(Still in Ivy's POV)
Even with a handgun and Bid following me, I still feel unsafe on the streets. Hell, I'd be frightened even had I been alone WITHOUT Bid instead. Bid is defenseless, unlike me, who at the very least, has some skill with firearms. Bid's more fragile than me as well... hand-to-hand combat? He wishes.
We pass several buildings, but of course, all of them were in bad condition and we never even bother looking at them.
"Kisaragi," Bid taps my back. "I'm scared," he says, being straight with me. "I'm scared the policemen will shoot us." He closes his eyes. "They probably shot Dalek, Meepster and Lesgo."
"Calm... calm down," I stutter, clearly not helping him relax. "We'll try to find them. Hopefully, they are still alive." My tone probably isn't helping him feel more tranquil at all, but can you blame me? Really?
More walking. Even though we planned on taking a taxi, we are just too... uncomfortable. Most taxi drivers drink while driving and of course, a drunk taxi driver is far from being a component in safety. Bid would start to get tired and I am already tired myself... so much walking... too much walking!
"I think we should just steal a car," I suggest, too exhausted to keep my hands clean.
Bid narrows his eyes. "We'll be just like thieves if we do that, Kisaragi," he grumbles. "We are supposed to help this city be free of crime, not add to it!"
I didn't bother fighting back. "Good point."
Still more walking. At that point, I think my heels just cracked. I wish I could just take a rest, but we are in a hurry. We need to find them. Find our friends. Or we could just be looking for nothing. They could be dead, but Bid clearly doesn't want to give up hope. We MUST find them or else... dead or alive. Even if they are dead, we'll gladly give them a funeral.
Suddenly, I feel my reflex kick in. "D-Danger!" Bid is about to walk by an alleyway, I immediately pull him back and...
"BANG!" a gunshot was fired from the alley itself. I'd draw my handgun I kept in my holster buckled on my belt.
"Bid," I shove him away. "Go hide... someone's trying to kill us," my eyes narrow. "Get yourself to safety. I might die, so find them for me later." I prepare to dash into the alleyway.
Bid refuses. "I'm not hiding, Kisaragi!"
I sigh. "Come on. The least you could do is not let my death be in vain," I try to coax him to go hide.
"No," again, he refuses. "I'm going to make sure you don't die." As it turns out, he does have a weapon he'd hid beneath his coat. It's... a crowbar.
"... that won't be effective against firearms, you know," I was about to go into the alleyway without him.
"My surname is Freeman," Bid tells me. "... I'm letting you know my surname since we MIGHT die. Now, let's go fight those criminals." Bid drags me into the alleyway.
My eyes narrow. "Wonder why that guy haven't fired another shot while we were talking." I probably should be grateful, though... no need to complain about something that will keep me alive for another day.
The person that fired that shot was not in the alleyway, much to me and Bid's surprise.
"Where did he go?" Bid questions. "He better not try to flank us."
What was in the alleyway in place of that guy... was a motorcycle. Its key was on the ground by it. "Did someone signaled that shot to call us into the alleyway for this?" I inquire the thin air. What? I wasn't expecting an answer at all. "I hope that is the case, 'cause... this motorcycle would be really helpful."
"You know how to drive a motorcycle, Kisaragi?" Bid asks.
"Yes, I do," I answer. "Used to drive a motorcycle to work all the time, but then the police broke it because why the fuck not," I pick up the key and then insert it into the motorcycle's key slot, turn the key and begin the engine. "Let's use it to go find them."
"Yeah," Bid nods in agreement. "At least we won't have to walk anymore."
I climb onto the motorcycle, followed by Bid who clings onto my back. "A motorcycle is pretty fast..." I comment. "So, don't let go or you will fall off and get crushed by another car on the street. I can't react in time to save you from that, you know," I snark. I wonder why I keep joking about dying.
Bid rolls his eyes. "Just drive off already."
