Episode 1 - Part 1 (Reminiscing)
The water is alive, thought a young Time as he dived into the deep blue pool. Once you dive in, it will immediately bare its fan, and attack. His movement in water were fluid, like he was one with the water. His motions were elegant, but swift. But there's nothing to fear. Sweeping 1 of his arm out of water, in a freestyle motion, Don't resist the water. His hand immediately jabs through the water next. Thrust your fingers into the surface, and carve an opening. Then slide your body through that opening, he did as he said to himself. Moving your arms, your head, your chest...
Masked, and Scrag watched the young boy swam through the liquid. "His swimming always look so smooth," a young Masked commented at the sight of Time's swimming.
"Yep, like a dolphin!" Scrag cooed. Masked chuckled at Scrag's comparison.
Their attention changed, as they heard footsteps coming from the edge of the pool. Another boy. "Who's that?" Scrag questioned.
"Probe Net-kun," Masked answered. "He transferred into our class last week." Net was adjusting his goggles and cap, while Scrag and Masked talked about him. After having finished tugging his own goggles string, he bent his knee, preparing to dive into the azure pool.
Leaping from the diving board, his weight causing a loud splash, he caught up to Time in a few seconds flat. His agility was unmatched. Hell, he immediately out sped Time as soon as he caught up. Net reached the other side of the pool first, Time being a few seconds late. Kicking the walls of the other side, Net turned around, Time following, again, a few seconds late. It was all solid swim back from there.
However, Time accelerated his pace. He was the one in 1st again, Net falling behind by a large distance.
Time removed his cap, shaking his head and wet hair. The drops made small, tiny ripples in the pool, and some splashed onto the edge of the pool, but they were hardly noticeable. Masked walked toward the pool, reached his hand out to Time, offering to help Time out.
"Nobody can beat you when you're in water, Time-chan."
"Stop calling me -chan already," Time grumbled, not too fond of the honorific. He raised his wet arm, taking Masked's hand. The tall boy helped Time up from the pool.
Scrag complimented Time. "That was so cool, LetsGo-kun! I wanna swim like you!"
Net, rather than getting out of the pool, leaned on a buoy, his cap also off. "You're as fast as the rumors said," he grinned, not saddened by his loss. Plus he never asked to race Time to begin with, anyway. Time didn't smile at the compliment. "What was your time?" Net asked.
The boy turned away. "I don't care about my time," he responded, bluntly. Net widen his mouth at Time's answer, but then, he immediately broke into a short burst of laughter.
"That's just like the rumors said, too."
At that sentence, Time shifted his eyes to look at Net for a moment.
"Hey, Letsgo," Net got up from the pool at last. "You interested in entering a relay with me at the next tournament?"
Time turned away to the pool, walking to its edge again. "I only swim freestyle," he bluntly refused.
That's right, his train of thought began again, as he adjusted his goggles, having put on his cap again. That's right, I don't care about swimming faster times. His purple goggles lit up. All I want is to feel the water. His land thought end as he dove into the water again. With my skin, my eyes, my soul... To never doubt what it makes me feel. He thrust his arm forward under the water. Believe in myself. He imagined an arm, formed by the bubbles in the water. Don't resist the water. He touched the aquatic hand, and hold it. Welcome it. In his mind, he thought of himself as a young boy wearing nothing, sleeping underwater. We accept one another.
In reality, he was reminiscing something he thought as a child. He was, in fact, sitting in his own bathtub. His eyes were narrowed. "Yeah..." he audibly mumbled. "There was some funky stuff going through my head back then." He leaned back, raising his arm.
"There's an old saying my late grandma taught me," he was reminded of his grandmother's portrait in the storage room. "When you're 10, they call you a prodigy. When you're 15, they call you a genius. Once you hit 20, you're just an ordinary person." He looked to the ceiling of his bathroom. "About 3 years until I'm ordinary." He closed his eyes and sink back into the water.
I can't wait to be ordinary.
